An exhibition and symposium at the Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven.

The exhibition and symposium are organized by the Yale University Art Gallery with support from the Council on East Asian Studies and other departments and faculty at Yale. At the one-day symposium, Japanese and western scholars will present papers on various aspects of Japanese tea culture. The event is free and open to the public, although registration is required. There will be a tea ceremony performance for the general public on Saturday, April 18.

This symposium will honor Yoshiaki Shimizu, Frederick Marquand Professor of Art and Archaeology, retiring after more than twenty-five years of teaching at Princeton. Professor Shimizu's graduate students, past and present, will offer papers on their recent research.
